Annual Awards Banquet
Every May, the East Buchanan FFA Chapter hosts an awards banquet at the school in which a meal is served and members are recognized and awarded for their accomplishments and achievements throughout the calendar year.
Back to School Potluck
This years back to school potluck was at Spencer Cooks house. Members gathered together to talk about their summer, the upcoming school year, and were able to get to know our new members. Everyone brought a dish to share and were very full when they were done!
Buchanan County Fair
At the Buchanan County Fair located in Independence, the East Buchanan FFA Chapter is very active. EB FFA assists with the Tenderloin Supper, Parking, Exhibiting, and Queen Escorting.
Chapter Officer Retreat
Every summer, newly elected officers take a retreat somewhere to plan out the upcoming year, set goals for themselves and as a chapter, establish guidelines and bond together as a team. The 2017-2018 officer team retreated to Harpers Ferry where they rented a cabin for a night, where they did their planning and went boating with Aaron and Trish Cook the following day.
In 2017 a annual Christmas party was held for all the members to get together and have some fun. There was food, drinks, and a couple of movies and a white elephant gift exchange for the members to enjoy.
Greenhand and Chapter Initiation Night
This chapter event officially welcomes first year members into the National FFA Organization while the second year members receive the highest degree that the East Buchanan FFA Chapter can bestow upon its members. This activity also lets parents see what a formal chapter activity looks like and gets them interested in the chapter's activities as well.

Farm Safety Day
This last year 2 members traveled to Heartland Acres in Independence to teach kids about farm safety. There topic to teach was lawn mower safety. They talked about how to use the riding lawn mower and safety precautions about lawn mowers.
FFA Feeds Farmers
A few members signed up to take treats out to our famers to show their appreciation for all the hard work they do. These farmers were selected at our banquet with a drawing of names from a bucket.
In October 2016, the East Buchanan FFA chapter sold fruit, meat and cheese snacks to local community members. Over $10,000 was sold. The second week of December fruit is delivered and sorted. Members sort fruit into piles for students and then pick it up after school is out to be delivered.
The East Buchanan FFA shows community support by raising money for a local organization or charity every year. For the second year in a row, the chapter raffled off a volleyball and football signed by the varsity squads during the homecoming football game. This year the chapter raised $102 to the Cedar Bend Animal Shelter in Waterloo.
The 2015-2016 King and Queen is Gannon Cook and Emeli Roettgers. Our 2015-2016 candidates were Nile White and Jacqueline Francois for our seniors, Gannon Cook and Emeli Roettgers for our juniors, Heath Weber and Natalie Svoboda for our sophomores, Jacob Kelly and Ashley Wessels were our freshmen. This February we will be crowning our new king and queen!
During Winthrop Days the East Buchanan FFA Chapter helped out with the 5k run/walk. Members passed out shirt, helped people sign up, set up the 5k, and directed the participants around the course. Overall it was a good turn out!
